Nokia Security Developers Alliance Program Expands Integrated Security Application Solutions

Mountain View, California - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced that First Hop, Micromuse and Websense will participate in the Nokia Security Developers Alliance program in order to earn "Nokia OK" interoperability validation for Nokia's IP security appliances. By working together, Nokia and these leading developers create truly interoperable solutions that address customers' evolving security infrastructure requirements with flexible and robust security solutions that extend the return-on-investment of Nokia's security appliances.

The Nokia Security Developers Alliance leverages the flexibility of Nokia's appliance technology, allowing interoperable solutions to operate on- or off-appliance depending on the specific application. This satisfies a wide range of customer use and implementation scenarios and reduces the complexity of competitive solutions that offer multiple applications operating on multiple systems across several locations.

The three latest Alliance participants market very different applications and will deliver solutions that interoperate uniquely with Nokia's IP security appliances. First Hop develops mobility enhancement solutions that accelerate wireless connections from mobile phones and optimize data for wireless transport. Micromuse's Netcool provides businesses with a real-time view of what's happening throughout the infrastructure, enabling them to respond to problems before they cause network-based business services to fail. With Websense's Internet filtering solution, companies manage, analyze and report employee use of the Internet.

"First Hop is pleased to be a part of the Nokia Security Developers Alliance," said Timo T. Laaksonen, CEO of First Hop. "First Hop Wireless Accelerator product ensures that Nokia customers are able to extend their remote access VPN networks to mobile workers over wireless networks enhancing the end-user experience and providing real savings in reduced air-time costs."

"Nokia's Security Developers Alliance Program encourages a community of innovation and confidence by leveraging solutions, such as Netcool, that deliver greater ability for growth and bottom line business value," said Darin Layman, VP Micromuse Alliances & Solutions Marketing. "We are looking forward to receiving the "Nokia OK" approval on the Netcool solution for Network Management.  Through this designation our customers will be able to readily recognize Netcool's interoperability with other best-of-breed technologies to help ensure the integrity, monitoring and management of their IT systems."

"Customers benefit the most from Websense joining the Nokia Security Developers Alliance Program," said Andy Meyer, vice president of marketing for Websense Inc. "Large and small organizations will now be able to utilize the world's leading employee Internet management (EIM) solution integrated on the Nokia appliance. This means greater ease of deployment, coupled with all the benefits of Websense EIM software, such as reduced legal liability, increased productivity and security, and reduced bandwidth consumption."

Nokia Security Developers Alliance members have access to Nokia's Software Development Kit (SDK) for Nokia's secure Operating System (IPSO), providing the opportunity to port their products to Nokia's security appliances. The porting process delivers a truly interoperable solution offering rapid deployment, ease of configuration, and the highest level of performance and availability.

"Customers now have the freedom and flexibility to complement Nokia's family of firewall, VPN and Intrusion Detection appliances with additional security applications, tools, and management agents," said Dave Edwards, Senior Director, Nokia Security Developers Alliance. "Nokia is pleased to welcome the latest participants into the Nokia Security Developers Alliance program and we look forward to working together to increase our value-add for enterprise and service provider customers."

Currently, the select group of Nokia Security Developer Alliance members that have earned "Nokia OK" approval include FishNet Security, Open (OpenService, Inc.), Permeo, SurfControl and Tripwire.
