The average price for the six contracts is about USD 54 million per ship at delivery. These newbuildings will replace older tonnage that will be close to 30 years at the time of delivery of the newbuildings. The contract also includes option for two ships with delivery in 2006.
After this latest contract, Odfjells firm newbuilding orderbook consists of one 37,500 tdw. chemical tanker from Kleven Florø AS in Norway with delivery in December 2003 and six ships from Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa in Poland with delivery evenly spread from April 2003 through December 2005. All newbuildings have a substantial number of segregations and all cargo tanks are made of stainless steel.
