OSLO, Norway, Dec. 16, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Odfjell (Other OTC:ODJLY) confirmed in October and November 2002, orders for four 39,500 tdw. chemical tankers from Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa Sp. z o.o. in Poland with delivery in 2003 and 2004. Odfjell has increased the order with another two sister ships with delivery in June and December 2005.The average price for the six contracts is about US $54 million per ship at delivery. These newbuildings will replace older tonnage that will be close to 30 years at the time of delivery of the newbuildings. The contract also includes option for two ships with delivery in 2006.
After this latest contract, Odfjell's firm newbuilding order book consists of one 37,500 tdw. chemical tanker from Kleven Floroe AS in Norway with delivery in December 2003 and six ships from Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa in Poland with delivery evenly spread from April 2003 through December 2005. All newbuildings have a substantial number of segregations and all cargo tanks are made of stainless steel.
