CURACAO, Dutch West Indies, Dec. 18,2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- While snow, cold and heavy rains dominated U.S. weather reports, this week's edition of "Travel With Stephanie Abrams!" on the Business Talk Radio Network hosted by travel expert Stephanie Abrams and her on-air 'travel companion' Dave Isby, gave the weather report as, "yet another 86 degree sunny day with balmy breezes!" That's because the nationally syndicated weekly radio show broadcast live on Sunday, December 15, from Curacao, Dutch West Indies.
"Curacao is one of those great destinations where you meet people from Europe because of its Dutch heritage and from South America because of its proximity to Venezuela. It's a cosmopolitan island with great food, friendly inhabitants, duty-free shopping, wonderful attractions, terrific nightlife, and great resorts on beautiful beaches! And you can count on great weather because Curacao is outside of the hurricane belt," Abrams explains.
Part of the ABC Islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, the island boasts the Seaquarium where individuals and school groups study marine life in specially designed classrooms with dramatic views of the Caribbean and learn from first-hand experiences including scuba dives and snorkeling.
The Seaquarium offers Dolphin Encounters where young children interact with dolphins in shallow water as well as Dolphin Swims. "Equipped with my life jacket to keep me afloat, I took the plunge into fifteen feet of water in the natural sea corral and swam with three dolphins. There is no way to describe how lovely it is to pet the rubbery skin of a dolphin or to be transported through the water by holding the dorsal fins of Annie and Theresa, two wonderful dolphins who live at the Seaquarium," Abrams explains. "Getting kissed by a dolphin can only be described as a moment of sheer joy!"
Abrams broadcast her show live from SuperClubs Breezes Curacao, which is a short walk from the Seaquarium. Her guests included Dr. James Hepple, Curacao's Director of Tourism; Richard Bourke, General Manager of the SuperInclusive Breezes Resort; Mark De Hoo, PR Director for the Seaquarium; and Alan Cass, a regular listener to "Travel With Stephanie Abrams!" who teaches 6th grade at a Westchester County, NY school. Cass has a special interest in Curacao and includes a book called, "The Cay," in his curriculum in which a war correspondent tells of his experiences in Curacao during World War II. Cass won a stay at Breezes Curacao by being a lucky caller from his cell phone to Abrams' show in August when he was driving in the Baltimore area and listening on his car radio to WBIS AM 1190. Cass plans to take his prize trip in Spring 2003.
