SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 23, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Santa Monica Playhouse's Young Professionals' Company presents a very special two-night run of DEAR GABBY: THE CONFESSIONS OF AN OVER-ACHIEVER, the Playhouse's internationally acclaimed teen dramedy about first love, cheating, rejection, and the passion and pain of piano lessons, Wednesday and Thursday, January 8 & 9, 2003.
An excellent example of modern adolescent dramatic literature, DEAR GABBY explores the issues faced by virtually all teenagers in the modern world -- topics such as peer pressure, teen sexuality, drug use and morality in a seemingly immoral world -- in a production Los Angeles Times' Lynne Heffley says "movingly articulates the loneliness of growing up without an 'instruction manual'."
DEAR GABBY is written and directed by Playhouse Co-Artistic Directors: Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie and features Margaret Boyle, Ginger Brede, Laura Lazarus Frankel, Billie Dawn Greenblatt, Ben Herold, Perrin Iacopino, Chelsea McNabb, Cara Siegel, Graham Silbert and Cammy Truong. More than 100 Playhouse Young Professionals' Company members have assayed this timeless work in cities throughout the world since 1988, including Warwick, England; Tokyo; Coleraine, Ireland; and New York City, as well as throughout Southern California in an incredible 11 1/2-year initial run.
DEAR GABBY will play for two performances only, Wednesday and Thursday, January 8 & 9, 2003; 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds benefit the Save The Playhouse Campaign. For reservations and student group discounts, call 310-394-9779 extension 1, or go online to www.SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com and click on "Special Events". Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 4th Street, one block east of the Third Street Promenade in the heart of Santa Monica's Bayside District.
