ADDISON, Texas, Jan. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Assistant managing editor Christy Brown has been promoted to managing editor of Wieck Media Services, President Tim Roberts announced today. Brown replaces Jere Cox, who has retired.
As managing editor, Brown will be responsible for the company's desking operation where editorial content is formatted and proofed before being posted to the various databases and Web sites Wieck manages and maintains for its clients.
"Christy has been a mainstay of our editorial operations since her days as an intern," Roberts said in making the announcement. "She knows our clients and knows our operation very well. Christy is young, energetic and talented and I am confident she will do an outstanding job leading our editorial staff into the future."
"I'm looking forward to the opportunity of expanding my role at Wieck and contributing to the growth of the company," Brown said. "I really enjoy working for such a unique and exciting company and I'm ready for the challenge and responsibilities."
Brown, 21, joined Wieck in the fall of 2000 after serving a stint in the company's intern program. She is a native of the Dallas area and a 1999 graduate of R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, where she was a staff photographer for the school yearbook. She received her Associate Arts degree from Brookhaven College in July 2002.
Wieck Media Services specializes in Web delivery of multimedia files - text, graphics, photos, audio and video - to media organizations worldwide. The 11-year-old firm was ranked No. 7 on the Dallas Business Journal's 2002 annual list of the area's largest Web-hosting companies.
Wieck utilizes Internet and Web technologies to distribute the news reports, columns, photos and graphics for The New York Times News and Syndicate Services, as well as the daily Times Digest and the daily and weekly crossword puzzles. The company also distributes the daily photo reports for Agence France-Presse, Kyodo News Service and LAT Photographic in London.
