CLERMONT, Fla., February 6, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mystery, mayhem and hungry revenge. These are the components of C.A. Blakeslee's newly released novel, The Lion's Share (now available through 1stBooks Library). The story begins when T.C. Crawford, the proverbial king of the business jungle, dies. It isn't long before the greedy and gluttonous emerge for the "lion's share." Only one gutsy woman can beat all the odds and restore the integrity of the firm Crawford left perilously behind.
The novel's heroine is Kathy Stone, who challenges the corrupt and immoral John Barker. Barker intends to get his hands on Crawford's fortune and will stop at nothing to get his way. His only obstacle is the determined and honorable Stone. However, Stone loses everything in a lawsuit gone awry and soon realizes she's playing a deadly game. Taking her company files, she jumps a plane to Hawaii (where her fianceKeith Barton lives), leaving her problems behind in San Francisco, or so she thinks.
Stone quickly learns that distance won't stamp out the embers of greed. The turmoil follows her to Hawaii. She and Barton soon find themselves victims of burglary. However, it wasn't monetary goods the theives were after, it was important documents in Stone's company files.
In order to save their lives and the integrity of the company, Stone must return to the city and find evidence to restore her name and defeat Barker.
A born and bred Virginia native, Blakeslee began her writing career in grade school, where she won an honorary mention in the annual Virginia State Short Story Contest. After high school, Blakeslee worked for the federal government, during which time she enrolled in a correspondence course from the Famous Writers' School in Westport, Conn. She is currently retired and lives in Clermont, Fla., where she "finally has enough time to devote to writing."
