Spaces In Between -- A contemporary collection of 100 poetic works

MELVINDALE, Mich., February 12, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- While waiting for a bus, a plane or for change in the supermarket checkout, one may find moments in between, according to author Gil Saenz. In his newly released book, Spaces In Between: Collection of Poems by Gil Saenz (now available through 1stBooks Library), the author presents readers with a collection of poems written spanning a time period of almost 20 years.

Spaces In Between refers to the leisurely moments in daily life. One of Saenz's main ideas in the book is that there are countless moments each day when individuals may find time to think or dream and these thoughts, whether good or bad, conscious or unconscious, determine individual behavior. As this realization becomes more apparent, individuals can develop a more selective and less automatic way of thinking, he adds.

Saenz's book spans a wide variety of themes, including love, romance, fantasy, dreams, beauty, nature, spirituality, philosophy and notions about time, he notes. In addition, his style varies. Although some poems rhyme, many do not and others use a prose like style.

Readers "can agree, disagree or just feel neutral," but each poem was written to capture the interest or rouse the imagination in some way. "There is something to suit everyone's taste," Saenz says.

Saenz was born in Detroit, Mich. He received a bachelor's degree in English literature from Wayne State University in 1968 and has completed two years of post-graduate degree studies. He currently works as an information technology specialist for the government.

Saenz began his publishing career in 1984 and to date has published almost 300 poems individually. In addition, he has published five collections including Where Love Is, Colorful Impressions, Moments In Time, Lavender and Lace (written in conjunction with Jacqueline Sanchez), Dreaming of Love and Poems of Life/Poemas de la Vida.
