Murder In Paradise -- A mysterious thriller of murder, revenge and romance

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, February 13, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Murder, mayhem and politics. These are the key components of author Sydney Duncombe's newly released novel entitled Freedom County (now available through 1stBooks Library). Set in a remote mountainous location in Idaho, the book focuses on Ray Hollis, the son of Governor Hollis.

Due to a previous disagreement, father and son are not on pleasant terms. In order to improve relations, Ray moves from Oregon to Idaho, after being reassigned by his company. Hoping for reconciliation, Ray backpacks to Davis Lake to join his parents. However, before the reunion can take place, he sees his parents gunned by three masked assassins.

Ray vows to avenge his parents' deaths. He must first lead a state senator (and his father's closest friend), Paul Connery, to safety.

Although he must find information, he is unsure whom to trust. Though the FBI supports Ray's efforts, the local police are out to get him. Even the beautiful blonde Eva Jensen, whom he believes to be his ally, is, in truth, an enemy.

With danger around every corner, Ray must make a daring escape before all is lost, including his life. Finally, he is airlifted to safety aboard a helicopter manned by his best friend, Pete O'Brien, and Pete's gorgeous sister, Erin.

Duncombe is a current resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is the author of three other novels, one of which resulted in his nomination for and being recipient of the Idaho writer of the year award. His expertise in county government, backpacking and Idaho politics aided Duncombe in the writing of Freedom County, he notes.
