BURNABY, B.C., March 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Viscount Systems Inc. (OTCBB:VSYS) President and CEO, Stephen Pineau, is pleased to announce the Company has begun field trials of its new MESH security system. The first MESH modules installed included the MESH touch screen entry system with MESH intelligent proximity card reader technology.
"This is a major milestone both for Viscount and the MESH system," commented Mr. Pineau. "We are very pleased with the performance of the MESH equipment installed. MESH systems are designed for large facilities and the equipment must be very reliable, even for initial beta tests and then field trials. The users of door control systems are not sympathetic to system failures so before taking this step we have been very diligent in guaranteeing the integrity of the equipment. Fortunately, there is an enormous window of opportunity for MESH and we intend to rapidly expand the system capabilities and as we begin to release the various MESH modules to production.
"The MESH vision is to converge all aspects of voice (intercom, paging, emergency), data (card access, elevators, alarms) and video (CCTV) in large complexes or series of complexes. Advances in computer telephony architecture during the past four years of product development will ultimately enhance the MESH concept. The core MESH software platform is now established and stable so we are confident that the MESH modules that will appeal to large industrial, commercial, and government agencies can soon be completed. We have additional field trials committed in the coming weeks."
