MALMO, Sweden, April 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca announced today that it has been selected by 3 to deliver a solution that synchronizes personal data with several devices, including pda's, 3G mobile phones and desktop PCs, with the company's internal network and systems. The solution will initially be deployed in Italy and then in other markets where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests.
Teleca will also integrate the solution with the other enterprise systems (provisioning, billing, mediation, etc.), creating a complete synchronization service. The solution is based on the open SyncML standard, which provides a common base for negotiating the exchange of data between several devices and is the key component in the future of over-the-air (OTA) synchronisation. The solution will allow to create advanced mobile services like mobile office, multimedia events scheduling, sports events scheduling, automotive and M2M applications. The order covers services within development, integration, implementation, installation and support of the synchronisation system.
"The agreement with Teleca is another step in our strategy to carry out high-quality infrastructures and technological platforms. The solution will let our customers synchronize their personal data -- such as their calendar, address book and list of activities -- with the dedicated server, pc, pda, and of course UMTS handset -- a necessary service for those who are always on the move," commented Bob Fuller, joint CEO of 3.
"Teleca has a broad and strong geographical presence. The agreement with 3 strengthens our position as a global supplier and is in line with our sales strategy," said Nick Stammers, CEO of Teleca.
"Teleca's solution is the first global synchronisation system for 3G networks. It links many different systems and provides users the possibility to easily keep their mobile device data updated whether they are at work or at home," said Giovanni Gulli, sales manager at Teleca Solutions Italia.
