STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 09, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scandiaconsult has entered into an agreement with the Central Region of the National Swedish Rail Administration regarding linear transects and geotechnical surveys for the Adalsbanan rail link project. The assignment also includes an option of drawing up the railway plan. The contract volume amounts to about SEK 12 million.
The Adalsbanan will be a rail link between the Botniabanan and Ostkustbanan railways in the north of Sweden. The project comprises a new section between Harnosand and Veda. The section totals about 21 km, including a 900 metre bridge over the Alandsfjarden bay, as well as several tunnels totalling about 10 km. If the Swedish government approves the Rail Administration's application for permission, construction can be started in 2005 and finished in 2008.
