NEW YORK, April 21, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- WinMill Software announced today that they have selected Globix Corporation (OTCBB:GBXX) to provide hosting and support services for all of its web sites and e-learning platforms. WinMill, whose hosted clients include Penn State Athletics and the Big Ten athletic conference, selected Globix for its network reach, management capabilities, and highly redundant and secure infrastructure.
"We were hosting several dozen high-volume web sites for our most demanding clients," said Joseph Strazza, President and CEO of WinMill Software. "These sites required round-the-clock monitoring, and we were dedicating more and more resources to provide premium service. Now, Globix keeps us up and running and we are able to refocus our staff on what we do best -- application development and education."
WinMill solicited bids from several service providers, and found that Globix was willing to provide the most comprehensive service at a competitive price. But what ultimately tipped the scales in Globix' favor was their RapidDeploy(SM) service, which enabled WinMill to move all of its web assets across state lines, without ever having to bring down a single site.
"RapidDeploy(SM) was critical for us," said Strazza. "You can't just tell Procter & Gamble that their online training site is going to be down for 24 hours while you move your servers." With RapidDeploy(SM), Globix published copies of WinMill's hosted web sites on intermediate servers in the new facility, freeing up WinMill's own servers to be physically moved to their new location. Once the servers were reinstalled in Globix' facilities, they were synchronized with the RapidDeploy(SM) servers and brought back online. The entire process took less than a week and was transparent to WinMill's clients and users of their public web sites.
