SOLNA, Sweden, June 23, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC has been commissioned by AB Sollentunahem to refurbish the Sofielundsskolan and Rosjoskolan schools in Sollentuna. The combined value of the assignments is approximately SEK 125 million.
At Sofielundsskolan, a completely new 3,800-square-meter school building, including kitchen and dining facilities, will also be constructed. Although the facade will be plastered, the building's other architectural features will differ from the current 1920s style. Parts of the premises in Sofielundsskolan will also undergo a comprehensive upgrade, including the replacement of surfaces and installations.
At Rosjoskolan, all installations will be demolished and all surfaces renovated. The dining room will be upgraded and new fan rooms will be installed on the roof. The schoolyards at both of the schools will be renovated and, among other improvements, new plantings will be added.
"Like NCC, Sollentuna Municipality is environmentally certified. As a result, we feel secure in our ability to fulfill all the established environmental requirements. Since the radon levels in the ground are high, we will have to form thicker slabs and, possibly, take other actions. We have previous experience of similar projects," says NCC Project Manager Soren Eriksson.
Work on the project will commence in July and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2004. About 100 employees will be engaged in the project.
