Boliden streamlines Aitik mine operation

STOCKHOLM, June 26, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Boliden has decided to modify the production plan at its Aitik copper mine near Gallivare, Sweden. The result will be that production at the mine can be made more effective with improved profit and strengthened cash flow.

The modified plan will allow a transition from three shifts to two in both waste stripping and drilling. There will also be changes in the organisation which will involve an overall reduction of 38.5 positions.

The organisational changes will be implemented on September 15, 2003 and the new production plan will be introduced in stages during the last quarter of the year.
