Deja View, Inc. Selects Divio's Latest MPEG-4 Data Compression for New Wearable Camcorders

BRICK, N.J., July 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Deja View, Inc., one of the first manufacturers of wearable digital mini-camcorders featuring "after-the-fact" technology, today announced that its products will be powered by the NW901 single chip MPEG-4 CODEC integrated circuit design from Divio, Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif.

The Divio NW901 chip uses MPEG-4 compression to produce data rates that permit solid-state video capture and is the de facto standard for portable and streaming video applications.

Slated for delivery this fall, the Deja View Camwear products allow users to take video clips of action that occurs up to 30 seconds before the "record" button is pressed. The camcorder system includes a tiny camera that clips onto eyeglasses or the bill of a hat and a pager-sized unit that clips onto a belt or waistband.

According to Sid Reich, president and founder of the New Jersey-based company, the camwear products will capture and write up to 30 seconds of audio and video to a removable media (64mb compact flash card upgradeable to 1 gigabyte) located in the remote hip pack unit.

"It is the Divio NW901 that allows us to create the Camwear products in their most compact and feature-rich form," Reich said.

"Our NW901 technology is an ideal match for the Deja View product line because it allows the continued miniaturization of digital photography and videography, reduces manufacturing costs and provides creative solutions for emerging applications in digital video compression, digital video recording and digital imaging," said Steve Musallam, director of marketing at Divio.
