The turnover in number of traded stock options contracts for a single trading day reached an all time high in July (July 18) with 924,357 contracts.
The trading in share and interest-rate related derivatives products for a single trading day (July 18) reached an all time high, with 1,067,657 contracts. . On July 18 the share trading turnover for a single trading day reached a year high with SEK 20 708 million.
On July 31 SAX- and OMX-index reached a new year high, index change in July + 7 %.
Share trading The average share trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 8 315 million during July (during the past 12-month period: 8 970). In June 2003 the average share trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 9 556 million. The average number of closed transactions per business day has been 31 317 during July (during the past 12-month period: 38 941).
The turnover rate during July was 105% (during the past 12-month period: 123%).
Derivative trading Average derivative trading turnover (Swedish share and interest-rate related contracts) amounted during July to 220,839 contracts (during the past 12-month period 269,246) per business day. The average derivative trading turnover amounted during June to 322,772 per business day. The average number of contracts in share-related derivative products amounted during July to 211,325 contracts (during the past 12-month period 243,595) per business day, while the average number of contracts in interest-rate related derivative products amounted during July to 9,514 contracts (during the past 12-month period 25,651) per business day.
The total value of trade in stock options amounted for July to SEK 27.2 (during the past 12-month 47.0) million per day. The total value of trade in stocks options amounted for June to SEK 32.9 million per day.
Warrants trading The average warrants trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 20,603 thousand during July (during the past 12-month period: 24,739). In June 2003 the average warrants trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 19,137 thousand.
Index developments The OMX index increased during July by 7.4% and closed on 571.0 (30 June 2003: 531.5). The Benchmark index closed on 200.5 as of 31 July (30 June 2003: 185.9), which is an increase of 7.8%. The SX All-share index (the SAX index) closed on 171.8 (30 June 2003: 160.6), which corresponds to an increase of 7.0% during the month.
The Information Technology Index increased most during the month and closed on 124.3 (30 June 2003: 96.5), which is an increase of 28.8%. The Consumer Staples Index decreased most during the month and closed on 249.0 (30 June 2003: 263.2), which is a decrease of 5.4%.
List changes Stocks During July 2 companies have been de-listed from the O-list. The number of listed companies on Stockholmsborsen (incl. Xternal list) is 283, of which 58 are listed on the A-list and 224 on the O-list. Total market value for the companies on the A-list amounts to SEK 1,603 billion, and on the O-list to SEK 436 billion. Total market value (incl. Xternal list) amounted to SEK 2,046 billion as of 31 July 2003 (30 June 2003: 1922).
Bonds During July 7 new bonds has been registered on the SOX-list and 9 new bonds have been registered on the Monthly list of bonds.
Warrants During July 40 new warrants has been listed.
Market Surveillance
Stockholmsborsen has in July referred one case of suspected illegal insider trading to the Financial Supervisory Authority.
The Disciplinary Committee of Stockholmsborsen has issued a warning to one company for failure to comply with the company's listing agreement with the Exchange. Background to the decision was that information from the company was available on the company's website prior to the publication of information in the manner prescribed in the company's listing agreement.
