Vodafone: Sony Ericsson T610 still on top -- but it's 5-4 to Nokia on the top 10 list

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 03, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Vodafone (NYSE:VOD) live mobile Sony Ericsson T610 is holding on to first place on Vodafone's sales list for August, but two Nokia mobiles -- the Nokia 3510i and the Nokia 6610 -- are hanging tight in second and third place.

There are a total of five mobiles from Nokia on the list and four from Sony Ericsson. The only other mobile manufacturer who has managed to force their way in is Sharp, with its Vodafone live mobile, the Sharp GX10i.

"Nokia and Sony Ericsson still dominate mobile sales, by and large, in Sweden. But at the same time, we shouldn't forget that Japanese models from Sharp and Panasonic, have achieved a breakthrough over the past year, thanks to the Vodafone live initiative. We will be launching the Sharp GX20, the follow-up to the Sharp GX10i, as a new Vodafone live mobile this autumn, and we believe that with its fantastic colour screen and camera features, the Sharp GX20 can pose a real challenge to the best-selling models in Sweden," said Tommy Sundstrom, Vice President at Vodafone Sweden and in charge of Vodafone's retail chain in Sweden.
