FeaturePak: Business Talk Radio's 'Travel With Stephanie Abrams!' Awards SuperClubs Breezes Stay to San Diego Actress Genevieve Turnham, Listener at KCEO AM 1000

NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- (PRIMEPAK FEATURE) When travel expert Stephanie Abrams, of the nationally syndicated talk show, "Travel With Stephanie Abrams!" on the Business Talk Radio network, and her on-air Traveling Companion, radio veteran David Isby, announced the winner, on September 7, 2003, of their latest valuable travel prize, a 6 day/5 night stay at the Super-Inclusive SuperClubs Breezes Resort of the winner's choice, they faced initial disappointment. The winner, Genevieve Turnham, who listens at KCEO AM 1000 in San Diego to the show, which airs nationally in the 6pm to 8pm EST time slot, could not be reached to tell her she had won! Genevieve Turnham is 79 years young and has a booming acting career in films and commercials. She describes herself good humoredly as, "the old lady with her hair pulled back into a bun" and appears in Ellen Degeneres' film, "Mr. Wrong," in the part of Aunt Belinda. In Southern California, Turnham says she is known as, "the old woman in the tire commercials running to the tire store with my stocking rolled down around my knees!"

"We had no idea who Genny was! When our producer called her so we could congratulate her, her line was busy. We went off the air on September 7th saying, 'Genny, please hang up so we can call you!' When we reached Genny, I felt as lucky to have her as a listener as she did to win the prize!" Abrams stated.

Turnham, who describes herself as an avid fan of "Travel With Stephanie Abrams!" had travel plans of her own that became an obstacle to having her on the air to accept her prize, Abrams explains. "When Genny told me she is 79 years young, I thought she may not be ready to embark on an adventure but her quick response was, 'This is a dream! My husband, Keith, and I are ready to go!' In planning to have her on our September 14th show, Genny told me that she and Keith would be at their ranch outside of San Francisco that day and would be horseback riding between 3pm and 5pm PST when my show airs on the west coast. Horseback riding at 79! That's my kind of woman!" Abrams stated. "I suggested she trot up to a phone booth on the trail and call the control room at the appropriate time. The thought of a 79 year old fan calling from her horse was quite an image!" Abrams laughs. "Travel With Stephanie Abrams!" will announce the next big travel giveaway on October 5, 2003. "We've given away about $100,000 in travel prizes in the last year and have prize winners on the show after their trips to tell our audience about their experiences. Abrams explains that she and Isby enjoy the opportunity to keep their radio audience up to date with news, specials, travel tips, and the Best Kept Secrets for the Business and Leisure Traveler. Special show segments regularly featured include: The Road Warrior's Oasis, The Traveling Pet, Have Children...Will Travel, and Caribbean Corner, in which members of the Caribbean Hotel Association provide current information about their resorts and promotional opportunities for the traveler. Guests include key leaders in travel and tourism, making for a timely and exciting show.

"But with all the things we do to make our show compelling nothing is more fulfilling than having a listener say we've made a dream come true," Abrams concludes.
