SCHENECTADY, N.Y., Nov. 10, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In a complex story about 12 seemingly unconnected people, author Michael S. Powell tells of a mysterious, hidden link between these individuals and the realities of life in The Maxwell Creation (now available through 1stBooks).
Powell begins the story by describing the characters' activities and whereabouts on May 30, 1989 and continues the saga by detailing the characters' lives over a 10-year period. Powell tells of a boy in Scotia, N.Y., waking on the morning of his 10th birthday, three police officers graduating from the Zone 5 Academy in Rensselaer, N.Y., a child and his single mother in Schenectady, N.Y., a backwoods girl from the Arkansas Ozarks, a pair of small time hoods, and a pro NFL lineman who leaves sports to pursue his lifelong dream of running a company and being a Teamster. Several highly intelligent children are also involved, one of whom becomes a serial rapist and murderer. All characters live separate lives in different locales, but often come in contact with each other.
What is their mysterious connection?
The story is based on an underlying theme of a chess game that moves through the opening game to a startling "checkmate." Throughout the "game," these pawns are subjected to violence, love, passion, abuse, paranormal activity and above all, karma and justice.
Powell was raised in Schenectady, N.Y. He has worked in many careers, from photography to musician to electronics technology. He also frequently contributes to the Sunday Gazette in Schenectady, N.Y. The Maxwell Creation is his first book.
