DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Nov. 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- While many companies are busy making their lists of recipients for annual year-end charitable donations, iBX Group, Inc. (OTCBB:IBXG) is wrapping up another full year of giving. The company, which develops and deploys financial, administrative and technology solutions for the healthcare industry, distinguishes itself by proactively assisting non-profit healthcare organizations, as well as those that brighten the lives of children in South Florida.
"We have a different approach to helping our communities than most other companies out there," said Justin Brovenick, Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing at iBX. "We believe that the best way to maintain our connection with the community is by supporting the people who need it most all year round, instead of waiting until the holidays when people tend to think more about giving."
IBX recently sponsored a fund-raising gala for the Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to promote education and research of children's genetic diseases of the brain such as Tay-Sachs and Canavan. Since the organization's inception five years ago, iBX has been involved in the group's efforts to bring much-needed diagnostic and treatment options to South Florida, helping to ease the burden on families who must travel to the Northeast for therapy.
"Because of our relationship with the healthcare community in South Florida, we're in a unique position to spread awareness about the mission of the Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation and to help speed the arrival of state-of-the-art treatments for children affected by these debilitating diseases," Brovenick said. "And while our main focus is on supporting healthcare-related organizations, we also try to entrench ourselves with as many other non-profits as possible."
The company is also a leading sponsor of Parent University, a consortium of Parent Teacher Associations from several area schools that have teamed up to provide innovative education programs for parents on critical issues such as drugs, teen sex, bullying and homework strategies. With the help of iBX, Parent University was able to bring best-selling author Rachel Simmons to its recent seminar, "A Look at Bullying," which gave parents valuable insight into childhood bullying behavior and effective ways of preventing it.
This winter, the company will also continue its successful "Assisting Kids" program, which donates Florida Panthers tickets to various children's charities through United Way offices in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties. Organizations that have received tickets during past hockey seasons include the American Heart Association, Deaf Service Center of Palm Beach County, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Broward County, Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County, Ruth Rales Jewish Family Service of South Palm Beach County, Glades Area Association for Retarded Citizens, Seagull Industries for the Disabled, SOS Children's Village, The Starting Place and Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO).
And the company does more than just donate tickets. It works to create exciting and memorable experiences for members of the community who would not otherwise be able to attend such events. On Dec. 10, children from Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Broward County and Adopt-A-Family of Palm Beach County will watch the Panthers play the Boston Bruins at iBX's private skybox at the Office Depot Center in Fort Lauderdale. The event will be catered and will include several treats for the children, such as games, prizes and take-home goodie bags.
"When we arranged for this skybox, it was with the intent of networking with our business associates, but we soon saw that it would also be a great opportunity to brighten the lives of some needy children in the community," Brovenick said. "We've always admired the work of the United Way, which distributes resources to 61 local agencies. Through more than 100 different programs, the United Way helps approximately one in every three families in Broward, so working with this very deserving organization is a wonderful way for iBX to touch the lives of thousands of people throughout South Florida."
