SAN DIEGO, Dec. 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Axesstel, Inc. (OTCBB:AXES), a leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing high-quality, CDMA-based fixed wireless local loop (WLL) terminals, hybrid phones and engineering solutions to operators worldwide, today announced the availability of AXW-P800 and AXW-P1900, a new line of next-generation feature-rich CDMA2000(r) 1x WLL phones. For product profile go to: http://media.primezone.com/cache/2343/file/981.pdf. The company is currently working with several global fixed and mobile service providers on field-testing the terminals.

"We are excited to be launching next-generation CDMA2000 1x WLL phones targeted at carriers in Latin America, Eastern Europe, India, China, Africa and other regions around the world where basic telephony and landline services are scarce and too expensive to deploy," said Craig Hagopian, chief marketing officer for Axesstel. "The new series of 1x WLL phones builds on our widely successful Axesstel ACW-P800 and ACW-P1900 IS-95 A/B based WLL desktop phones, which are currently deployed in the United States, South America, Africa and Asia."

The Axesstel AXW-P800 and AXW-P1900 are industry-leading, feature-rich CDMA2000 1x WLL phones that include a USB/RS232 port for Internet and data capabilities, unique speaker phone for full-duplex hands-free calling, 99 entry phone book, large three-line dot matrix LCD screen, 72- hour stand-by and more than 2 hours talk time, wall mountable, network support for three-way calling, call waiting, call forwarding and 2-way SMS messaging as well as many other compelling options. The AXW desktop product family is available in ivory and black matte finishes.

The AXW-P800 operates in the 800 MHz frequency band (cellular), while the AXW-P1900 operates in the 1900 MHz frequency band (PCS). Both phones support voice with data rates of up to 153 kbps, and are available to WLL and mobile CDMA wireless carriers worldwide. The products provide improved network capacity loading and are designed to lower the cost of acquisition and repair and maintenance over the earlier IS-95 A/B based product family. Axesstel will also offer AXW-P450 operating at the 450 MHz frequency band and providing card support for removable User Identity Module (R-UIM) standard for operators in China, Russia and Eastern Europe.

"The global need for both voice and data telephony services will be significantly addressed in developing countries by wireless local loop services due to lower cost, enhanced services and rapid deployment versus traditional landline technologies," said Phillip Redman, vice president of research for Gartner Research, estimating the unit potential will be in the millions over the next two to three years. "We believe the recent growth and adoption in WLL indicates resurgence in basic telephony services penetration."

"Building on growing demand in the fixed wireless market, Axesstel's 1x WLL line addresses an important global need," added Peter Waldo, vice president global sales for Axesstel. "This product offering reflects the company's forward movement in the fixed wireless industry as well as Axesstel's notable experience and well-respected reputation in the WLL space. Our new AXW products allow us to continue to serve our existing customers and support our plans to expand into new markets."
