J/Secure Secures Worldwide Capability With CardinalCommerce

Cardinal to provide JCB cardholders and merchants with protection from online fraud; Multi-functional Centinel with JCB J/Secure initiative to be delivered worldwide to over 400,000 merchants.

MENTOR, Ohio, Feb. 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- CardinalCommerce, a leader in the payment authentication service market, has announced that its highly flexible and extensible Cardinal CentinelTM authentication software for merchants now supports JCB, the world's fourth largest international credit card brand. The JCB 3-D Secure payment initiative, J/Secure, is designed to address cardholder concerns when shopping online and protect merchants and their acquirers from the brunt of fraud liability as well.

"JCB is pleased that Cardinal Commerce is among the first US companies to integrate J/Secure into their payment authentication services", states Julie Krueger, Vice President of Emerging Technologies for JCB USA. "J/Secure provides additional protection to our 50 million cardmembers, especially as e-commerce purchases are becoming more and more commonplace in Japan. J/Secure also significantly increases the confidence of US merchants in accepting the JCB credit card and in shipping to our cardmembers in the Asia Pacific region."

Cardinal is the first company worldwide to offer a simple comprehensive authentication service to merchants and acquirers, encompassing all 3-D Secure initiatives. Due to the unique architecture of Centinel, Cardinal can immediately enable its existing partners' 400,000 merchants with J/Secure thus expanding secure transaction coverage and lower fraud to a larger percentage of merchant transactions.

"As the global leader of merchant and acquirer authentication software, CardinalCommerce is excited that JCB has selected us to accelerate and enhance global adoption of J/Secure", says John Lazzaro, Senior Vice President of CardinalCommerce. "JCB's commitment to J/Secure further solidifies the payment industry's support of secure payment initiatives. As a leader in authentication software, Cardinal is committed to leveraging industry support to extend card-not-present authentication to new channels and markets."
