SODERTALJE, Sweden, March 18, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scania's 12 litre diesel engine will be used in 690 AMV vehicles which the Finnish company Patria will deliver to Poland.
Last year, the Polish government signed an agreement concerning the delivery of 690 AMV 8x8 (Armoured Modular Vehicle). The vehicles will be delivered during a period of approx. 10 years.
"We have had many years' co-operation with Patria. This deal is yet another proof of the fact that Scania fulfills the requirements for performance and reliability that are put on engines in various military applications," says Lennart Hjelte, Senior Vice President and head of Scania Industrial & Marine Engines.
The Finnish Defence Forces was first to order Patria's newly developed AMV vehicle, while Poland is the first foreign country to which the AMV's will be exported.
