CSC Gets PDA Security from Pointsec

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 27, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Pointsec Mobile Technologies, a global leader in mobile enterprise security have signed an agreement with Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) -- one of the world's largest outsourcing companies, to protect their own and their clients' PDAs with Pointsec's encryption and access control solution. The initial order will be used by CSC staff in Europe and this order has immediately been followed by an order for Pointsec to secure a major healthcare client.

The agreement will enable CSC to protect clients who outsource the security of their mobile devices such as PDAs and smartphones, with a comprehensive access control and encryption solution to ensure only authorised users gain access to data held on their PDAs.

"Working on this project with an elite band of experts here at CSC (which included technical, commercial and procurement professionals) we were able to pretty quickly identify, from previous experience with F- Secure and a sweep of 'OVUM' CSC's international research facility, that Pointsec were likely to be the optimum organisation with whom we would be able to reach the most complete end-to-end mobility solution that would deliver us and our clients optimum TCO benefits and best suit our strategic business goals," said Barry Gardiner -- UK Procurement -- CSC Limited.

With the emergence of PDAs into everyday use, CSC became aware of the necessity for a solution that safeguarded the data stored on mobile devices.

"Identifying Pointsec has been in line with CSC's corporate ethos of dealing with market leaders and best of breed organisations within the realms in which we operate to support our clients. For the potential benefit that we and our clients can enjoy from the success of such solutions, it makes perfect sense for protective organisations such as ours to strive to obtain such products and services and, once installed, to regard their presence not as just a necessary (comparatively minimal) cost but rather as an investment as well as insurance."

"Mobile data protection is becoming more and more important. Organisations may not have sufficient resources to handle all the facets of their IT systems' security; this is why it is important to have service providers, who can. We are sure that this will become a prevailing trend in a growing number of companies. We are very pleased to be working in this area with CSC," said Peter Larsson, Managing Director of Pointsec Mobile Technologies.
