STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Elekta today received the Export Hermes award from the Swedish Trade Council and the Fund for Export Development for the company's export successes and world-unique position within neurosurgery.
The Export Hermes prize has been awarded annually since 1981 to Swedish companies that have carried out successful export launches and that have had exceptional success in exporting products and services produced in Sweden. Through the years, some 30 exporting companies have received the prize.
A jury comprising representatives from the Fund for Export Development and the Swedish Trade Council this year selected Elekta AB as prizewinner, with the following motivation: "Through advanced medical research combined with advanced technology and commercial sustainability, Elekta has succeeded in establishing a world-unique position in neurosurgery."
Today, Monday, May 24, Elekta's President Dr. Laurent Leksell received the award from Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Viktoria at the Swedish Trade Council's conference ``Swedish export -- the key to growth."
