The World Golf League Completes $10K U.S. Open Qualifier


ORLANDO, Fla., June 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The World Golf League, Inc. (OTCBB:WGFL) announced today that it has completed the first of its Major Series qualifiers. The U.S. Open one-day qualifier was played on June 21, in New Jersey with a field of 44 players competing for $10,000. The event was hotly contested with ten players walking away with prize money. Wiley Williams, a three handicap from Newark, NJ earned first prize money of $3,600 after shooting an even par 71 and a net score of 68.

"This was the most exciting golf event I have ever participated in," said Ken Brown, a 20 handicap from Monmouth, NJ. "The WGL is a dream come true for the average player," Mr. Brown went on to say. Additionally, most of the players were still talking about the exciting finish at the U.S. Open and especially the tremendous play of WGL spokesman Fred Funk, who at 48 years of age finished 6th. The Major Series will continue with One Day Qualifiers in New England in July, Wisconsin in August and Michigan in September.
