Buffalo Technology and ABIT Collaborate on DDR2 Technology

The Partnership Expands Buffalo's Reach in the Gaming and Overclocking Markets

AUSTIN, Texas, July 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology (USA), Inc., an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of memory products, and ABIT Computer, a leading manufacturer of high performance motherboards and video cards, today announced that the companies have teamed up for the cross-validation of Buffalo's DDR2 memory modules with ABIT's motherboards.

Buffalo will provide ABIT with its DDR2 533MHz 512MB memory modules for validation with and optimization of ABIT's AA8-3rd Eye and AA8-DuraMax motherboards. The partnership also provides Buffalo with the ability to further expand into the gaming and overclocking communities.

"ABIT is well-known for its dedication to engineering and its commitment to providing products that exceed performance expectations," stated Steve Havis, Director of Buffalo Technology's US Memory Division. "Having ABIT test our DDR2 modules on its motherboards is a testament to Buffalo's superiority and our own commitment to providing high-performance memory solutions."

"Buffalo has a rock solid reputation for manufacturing reliable, robust memory solutions," stated Harry Yen, Technical Marketing Specialist at ABIT. "Teaming up with a manufacturer such as Buffalo further augments our engineering proficiency and bolsters our efforts to provide superior products that are unparalleled in performance."

ABIT's AA8-3rd Eye and AA8-DuraMax both utilize the Intel 925X Northbridge and are designed for tech-savvy gamers and the overclocking elite. The solutions provide SATA RAID, Dual DDR2 533/400, PCI-Express X16, IEEE1394, Gigabit LAN and ABIT Engineered (mu)Guru and Guru Clock. The boards also offer Hyper-Threading Technology, extra capacity and peripheral support as well as first class onboard sound.

Based on the new JEDEC (Joint Electronic Device Engineering Council) standard, Buffalo's high-performance DDR2 memory modules are designed to enhance performance and increase memory speeds. DDR2 uses new form factors: 240pin DIMM, 244pin DIMM and 200pin SODIMM. Buffalo's DDR2 solutions offer faster transmission speeds than previous DDR technology and feature On-Die Termination (ODT), which helps reduce signal transmission errors and improves timing efficiency. Additional features include reduced power consumption, Posted Column Address Strobe (CAS) for execution of overlapping commands and Bi-directional data strobe to eliminate fluctuations of reference voltage.
