Changes in SCA's business groups and management structure

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Since 2000 SCA's operations have grown 8% annually. Growth has largely been driven by company acquisitions within the hygiene products and packaging areas and in recent years primarily in North and South America, Asia and Australia. To meet the demands arising in an increasingly globalized business, changes will be made in SCA's business groups and management structure.

To further enhance the efficiency of controlling the growing Asian and Australian business, these operations will be combined in the new Asia business group, with head office in Shanghai. In addition, the area of responsibility for the current North America business group will be expanded to also include the Group's operations in South America. The changes become effective on 1 January 2005.

Control and the ongoing follow-up of the Group's operations will be combined in a Group Executive Management. In addition to Jan Astrom, SCA's President and CEO, Group Executive Management will consist of Executive Vice Presidents Michael Bertorp and Lennart Persson. Michael Bertorp will be responsible for the business groups with operations in America, Asia and Australia and consequently leaves his Secretariat position in the Group Board and other staff duties. Lennart Persson is appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and in this position will be responsible for all functions and staffs related to finance, treasury, internal control and taxes. Anders Nyberg, General Counsel, has been appointed new secretary to the Group Board. The changes become effective 1 September 2004.
