HERTOGENBOSCH, The Netherlands, Oct. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Supervisory Board of Van Lanschot NV intends to appoint Mr. H.H. (Hanso) Schotanus a Steringa Idzerda (57) as a member of the Board of Managing Directors of Van Lanschot NV / F. van Lanschot Bankiers NV. Mr. Idzerda is currently CEO of the Board of Management of CenE Bankiers NV, which became part of Van Lanschot on 30 September 2004. The announcement of his appointment is included on the agenda of the General Meeting of Shareholders of Van Lanschot NV to be held on 20 October 2004.

Mr. Idzerda has been CEO of the Board of Management of CenE Bankiers, Utrecht, since 2001 and also CEO of ING Private Banking since 2003. Prior to this, he held various positions, including that of Director of Securities of ING Investment Management, Management Team member of ING Barings and Director of ING Corporate Clients.

Hanso Henricus Schotanus a Steringa Idzerda was born on 14 October 1946 in Eindhoven. After completing his secondary education (Gymnasium B) in Haarlem, he studied law at the University of Leiden. Other studies followed include Insead AMP and Wharton AMP.
Mr Idzerda worked for ABN AMRO from 1972 to 1990, his final position being a member of the Corporate Banking management team. He joined ING Group in 1991 as Director of Corporate Clients. From 1994 to 1998, he was a member of the Board of Management of ING Bank International (Global Head of Risk and management team member of ING Barings). Until 2000, he was Director of Securities of ING Investment Management.
He was appointed CEO of the Board of Management of CenE Bankiers in Utrecht in 2001 and CEO of ING Private Banking in 2003.
Mr Idzerda has been nominated as a member of the Board of Managing Directors of Van Lanschot NV / F. van Lanschot Bankiers NV (as from 20 October 2004).
