Yap International Inc., a VoIP Technology Provider, Adds IT Strength to its Team


LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Yap International, Inc. (Pink Sheets:YPIL), a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol ("VoIP") communication services and products, today announced the appointment of Dr. Vladimir Karpenkov, MS, Ph.D. as the Company's Chief Information Officer.

Joseph Weaver, President and COO, stated, "As we rapidly approach deployment of our VoIP services, it is with tremendous pleasure that we announce the appointment of Dr. Karpenkov as our CIO. His knowledge of extremely complex database and Internet systems is without peer, and he will be instrumental in the development and execution of Yap International's back office systems. Dr. Karpenkov will be working out of the Los Angeles area offices."

Dr. Karpenkov earned his Ph.D. at Ural State University and has completed 2 separate Master of Science degrees in general programming /data base management and the physics of electro magnetic occurrences / optics of semi conductors respectively.

Congruent with his vast experience and training in academia, Dr. Karpenkov has also achieved considerable success applying technology in commercial applications. He was a founding member and CEO of Data Quest Software, LLC, a provider of information systems, data warehousing, and Internet solutions for the healthcare industry. Data Quest developed into a full service business technology company whose operations and services included large-scale data processing with a specialty in industrial strength enterprise wide systems.

Prior to his involvement with Data Quest, Dr. Karpenkov was the founder and chairman of the Texon Industrial Research Group, which developed turn-key software and hardware solutions for Russian Ministry of Health, Ministry of Telecommunications, and the private banking industry.

Dr. Karpenkov's diverse background also includes direct involvement in the development of proprietary technologies and systems, many of which have been patented in the U.S. and Europe. One such system was the first cellular phone network for the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia which was developed by Dr. Karpenkov in partnership with Milliken GMBH of Germany and Radio Telephone Inc. of Russia.
