Successful installations generates additional upgrade sales

Connex orders capacity upgrade for the second time in one year

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 19, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teligent today announces two upgrade orders from successful installations.

The first order is for another upgrade delivery to the leading Romanian mobile operator Connex and their Teligent Mobile VPN1) solution, regarding additional traffic capacity needed for the high customer growth.

"The Mobile VPN service has become an important part of Connex Integrated Services Solutions offering, as we bundle it with other services towards the enterprise market and sign three to five year contracts with our customers. The success of Connex Integrated Services has been proven by closing over 1500 deals with major companies in Romania so far, says Vishant Vora, Vice President and CTO of Connex.

With the Teligent P90/E platform operators like Connex can utilise the graphical service creation tool, the Teligent Application Builder, to develop and modify their service offering and prototype new services with short lead times. This moves the service development closer to the market and the end-users which leads to faster implementation of new enhanced services and features.

"his is really good proof of how a mobile enterprise solution, the VPN application, can increase an operator's revenue through increased ARPU, subscriber growth and increased customer loyalty through enhanced and combined service offerings created with the Application Builder tool", says Ulf Lindsten, President and CEO of Teligent. "t is of course a pleasure to receive upgrade orders as a result of our customers' success stories. This is the second upgrade order from Connex during 2004 and proves our business model based on capacity and functional license upgrades to the installed base", concludes Ulf Lindsten.

In addition Teligent has also received a new upgrade order from the Kuwaiti mobile operator Wataniya Telecom regarding new functionality, including SMS, MMS and GPRS roaming, for their deployed Teligent Real-Time Charging Gateway.

Both upgrade orders were received at the end of 2004, and are deployed using the patented Teligent P90/E architecture that separates network signalling, service execution and presentation to end-users. It is implemented in various configurations by a large number of leading carriers in the international telecommunications market, including BT, Cingular, MCI, SingTel, Telefonica, TeliaSonera and members of the Vodafone group.

1) Mobile VPN - By using the Mobile VPN, a part of Teligent's Mobile Virtual PBX concept, all types of calls are managed as if they where carried over private networks, even though the traffic is routed through the public network. Connex offers this service primarily to the Romanian enterprise market in order to provide corporate mobility with increased cost control and efficiency on the basis of e.g. internal short numbers, allocation of different levels of authorisation, differentiated call rates and real-time statistics.
