SOLON, Ohio, Feb. 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Advanced Lighting Technologies, Inc. announced today the planned closure of its Venture Lighting division's power systems manufacturing facility in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The plant produces power supply units for metal halide lighting systems which are supplied to Venture Lighting's customers in Canada and the United States. Production of these products will be relocated within Venture Lighting, and will have ceased in Amherst by June 30, 2005. The plant currently employs 123 people. All employees will be offered a combination of working and paid notice.
Wayne Hellman, Advanced Lighting CEO stated: "The closure of the Amherst facility is part of the continuing alignment of our supply chain and manufacturing cost base with the needs of our customers worldwide. The North American marketplace has become extremely competitive with product from Asia and Latin America as well as North America. As a result of this step, we will continue to provide our customers with high quality, cost competitive metal halide lighting power supply systems."
