NEW YORK, March 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- XMPie(R), the award-winning software provider for dynamic publishing, today announced that uDirect(TM), its desktop variable data solution for Adobe(R) InDesign(R) CS, has received the designation "Optimized for FreeFlow(TM)" from its channel partner, Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX). Xerox now offers both uDirect and XMPie's server-based PersonalEffect system as part of its FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection.

One of the reasons why uDirect and PersonalEffect received the designation from Xerox is due to their compliance with Xerox's VIPP specification for variable data document files and seamless integration with Xerox's Document Services Platform (DocuSP(R)). DocuSP is the front-end system for Xerox production printers including the iGen3(R) Digital Production Press. XMPie software also creates variable output streams for other FreeFlow-supported digital front ends such as the EFI Fiery(R) and the Creo Spire RIPS. Integration with additional and upcoming FreeFlow components is planned into XMPie's product development schedule.
uDirect provides the entry-level user the ability to create sophisticated VDP documents using Adobe InDesign CS and Xerox printers. It is also compatible with XMPie's award-winning PersonalEffect software, allowing users to add advanced VDP capabilities to their campaigns such as cross media, Web-to-print and print-to-Web.
Existing Xerox customers can add XMPie uDirect or PersonalEffect to their current systems to enhance print production workflow to make the most of their Xerox digital printers. Because XMPie software is now "Optimized for FreeFlow," customers can be sure that the two systems will work in harmony.
