SEATTLE, March 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Reeltime Rentals, Inc. (Pink Sheets:RLTR) announced today that the Company has completed a build-out of an Encoding Facility on Vashon Island, WA. The facility houses a series of servers linked via a gigabit Ethernet that utilize custom developed software to capture, process, and encode video for delivery over ReelTime's IRDS Network.
The software system, developed by Scream Networks, enables a majority of the complex video encoding process to be automated, requiring minimal intervention from developers. The encoding process is vital to the quality of the media that ReelTime will be streaming over its network and is typically very time consuming. As a result of the build-out of this facility and the Company's scalable encoding system, ReelTime has significantly reduced the cost of preparing a library of content for launch.
According to Alex Stanczyk, Reeltime Rentals' Chief Executive Officer, "This system can be rapidly scaled to encode up to 250 movies a day as it enables a large volume of encoding to occur in a much smaller time frame than would normally be required. Typically, the time required to process video in a non-automated system could be anywhere from 10 - 16 man-hours for one feature length film. This facility represents a major milestone for ReelTime Rentals because of the importance of being able to encode and make available large quantities of movies to our customers upon launch."
