Alfa Laval Receives SEK 100 Million Contract for Drinking Water Project in Karachi, Pakistan

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alfa Laval -- a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling -- has received a contract from DHA Cogen Ltd. in Pakistan for a desalination facility including two multiple effect desalination units, with a total capacity of about 14 million litres per day. The final delivery will be during the second half of 2006.

The project is the first major desalination project in Pakistan for drinking water supply. It is driven by the requirement of additional fresh water sources in order to be able to further expand and develop housing areas in Karachi. The water will be used by a new local development housing area.

Alfa Laval has an extensive range of fresh water generators and seawater desalination units, which convert seawater into fresh water by vacuum distillation for the supply of high quality freshwater for domestic and process use.
