Buffalo Technology Enhances the Wireless Experience with Its New High Power Router and Notebook Adapter

The New Products Are Designed to Increase the Range of Any Home or Office Wireless Network, Providing Superior Performance and Reliability

AUSTIN, Texas, June 27, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced it has added a High Power Wireless Router and Notebook Adapter to its award winning line of wireless networking solutions -- the AirStation(tm) G54 High Power Wireless Broadband Router (WZR-HP-G54) and the AirStation(tm) High Power Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54HP).

Buffalo's new High Power wireless devices are designed to eliminate dead spots and increase connection speeds. The router produces increased wireless-transmit power by up to 60% over standard 802.11g routers. The High Power Router also extends the range of standard 802.11g wireless client devices by up to 70% and boosts overall performance by up to 50%.

"Typical wireless networks are not as far reaching as they need to be. Like with cell phones, users experience dead spots and signal loss. These users need a solution that works with them in their network environment," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of product marketing and public relations. "Buffalo strives to develop solution-centric products that solve our customers' problems such as covering dead spots in a wireless network. With the new High Power Router and Notebook Adapter, we are building upon our reputation of providing forward-thinking, problem-solving solutions that are customer-friendly and affordable."

AirStation High Power Wireless Broadband Router (WZR-HP-G54)

The AirStation High Power Wireless Broadband Router is uniquely equipped with a built-in signal amplifier to improve performance and extend range. The product further boosts performance by offering Wireless Distribution System (WDS) support for bridging and repeating. The product also includes an external antenna connector so one of Buffalo's wireless antennas can be attached to increase the wireless signal.

The router is equipped with a built-in DHCP server with a 4 port 10/100 Auto-Sensing switch. The router features optimized WAN to LAN routing speeds and support for FTTH. Automatic Channel Support automatically selects the best wireless channel with the least interference.

AirStation High Power Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54HP)

Buffalo's new High Power Notebook Adapter also features a built-in signal amplifier and provides for longer wireless signal distance and higher throughput. The card allows users to find and connect to any access point or router that standard 802.11g CardBus cards may not be able to connect to. It also allows for faster connection speeds at further distances resulting in more reliable and more robust connections. The 32-bit CardBus card is compatible with any notebook PC with a Type II or Type III PC card slot. The card also features an external antenna connector, which allows users to connect an external antenna and solve additional distance issues for users with wireless embedded notebooks.

Both products are 802.11g/802.11b compliant and include 125(a) High-Speed Mode(tm) Technology. The products feature Buffalo's patent pending AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS(tm)). Both the router and the notebook adapter feature advanced security protocols such as WPA-PSK with AES support, which gives the products the ability to support WPA2 -- the latest and most powerful security standard for wireless networks. Additional security features include 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, and SPI Firewall.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the AirStation G54 High Power Wireless Broadband Router (WZR-HP-G54) is immediately available at an estimated street price of $99. The AirStation High Power Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54HP) will be available mid-July at an estimated street price of $69.
