STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Getinge AB's profit before tax Q2 2005 amounts to approximately 304 SEK million (358 SEK million Q2 2004), which deviates from the market's expectations (consensus forecast).
Getinge's business is mainly based on sales of capital equipment for the health care market and is characterised by long lead times. As a consequence, there is a significant variation in profits from quarter to quarter.
Outlook for full-year 2005
As at the end of the first quarter this year, the group is still positive in its outlook for the full financial year 2005.
Orders received rose organically by 8.2% in the second quarter which is a foundation for an improved growth in sales in the second half of the year.
A somewhat lower demand for Extended Care's products in Western Europe is compensated by an improved currency situation.
GETINGE is a leading provider of equipment and systems to customers within health care, extended care and pharmaceutical industries/laboratories. Equipment, services and technologies for infection control, operating theatres, patient hygiene, patient handling and wound care are supplied to customers throughout the world. The Getinge Group has annual sales of SEK 11 billion and 6,800 employees.
