Take Time to Relax -- Author, Educator Presents Inspiring New Collection of Poetry

MIAMI, July 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- In her new collection titled, Relax: New and Selected Poems (now available through AuthorHouse), Ana Monnar builds on the familiar refrain of "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" to create an inspiring and uplifting work.

Part 1, "Something Old," consists of selected poetry from three of Monnar's other works: Half Full, Or Half Empty?, Poetry from Planet Earth and Gold and Glitter. Part 2, "Something New," contains a host of Monnar's thought provoking works which have not been previously published. In the book's third section, "Something Borrowed," Monnar presents a hodgepodge of famous quotes and proverbs from long ago. Finally, in "Something Blue," she offers an eclectic mix of poems sure to resonate with readers everywhere as she presents a series of verses in which the word "blue" appears.

"...What Ana is saying is in the language of the heart. She writes as one would talk, about ordinary things, and what she values the most, without any gloss of pretension, and cuts through the superfluous to reach what is true and real," writes Alejandra Vernon of Long Beach, Calif. "I was wondering how to rate this book, until I hit 'Christmas Tree,' and had a reaction to it that made this a five star volume... there was so much depth to its simplicity, as there is with many of the poems. A musician with equal talent should set some of these pieces to music; they would go well with a lovely melody."

"Relax is intended for a more mature audience," writes Monnar. "Some of the poems in Part 2 (are) witty, gloomy, cynical, contemptuous, while others are inspirational. So relax and be ready to go on a journey that will provoke your emotions."

Written by an accomplished educator, Relax is an insightful collection that stirs the heart and soul.

Monnar was born in Cuba and moved to Miami at the age of 7. She is a U.S. citizen and earned her master's degree in early childhood education and elementary education from Florida International University. Monnar has taught second, third and fourth grades, and has been in the profession for more than 25 years. She has also worked as a reading curriculum specialist and reading leader. She earned the title, "Teacher of the Year" in the 1980s and has inspired learners to write award winning pieces.
