VANCOUVER, Wash., Aug. 22, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Automotive Specialty Concepts (Pink Sheets:AMVS) announced today that it signed Football Hall of Famer Mel Renfro to endorse products, programs and join the advisory board.
In addition to having Mychal Thompson, former LA Laker star, on the advisory board, the company now has another celebrity icon to aid in its business model. Mr. Renfro will be available to help market and advertise the company's model and help build sales. As previously mentioned, the DEA has suggested its interest in working with AMVS and Mr. Renfro to help combat steroid use at middle school, high school, and college levels. With DEA and congressional support the company could role out a massive campaign to infiltrate all schools nationwide. This could result in thousands of schools participating and a decreased level of steroid use.
Mr. Renfro said, "I am proud to be associated with AMVS in a marketing capacity. And I look forward to actively working together to help the nation's youth and to increase brand awareness for AMVS and its products."
Paul Stringer, AMVS CEO, said, "We welcome Mel Renfro to our advisory board and we are very happy to have formalized our relationship with him. He is well known both in sporting and educational circles, and all of our prospective customers are very pleased with our association with him."
Mr. Stringer continued, "We celebrated Mr. Renfro's new position with a 'kick-off' meeting on Friday in Vancouver, Wash. with Mr. Renfro, Mychal Thompson, former LA Laker star; Jerry Leslie, CFO; Clayton Smith, Investor Relations; Dexter Morrison, Sales and Marketing and myself, Paul Stringer."
"The plan is to get the positive message driven to the school levels with the help of the professional athletes and reinforce our message with the products we offer for fundraising. We believe that this is a solution for the education issues that congress and the DEA are stressing more and more every day. In a sense we educate and raise capital for the schools, at the same time becoming a truly a 'win-win' situation. The initial response has been fantastic," Mr. Stringer finished saying.
