NEWTOWN, Pa., Aug. 25, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Weida Communications, Inc. (Other OTC:WDAC), a U.S. company providing satellite communications services throughout China, reported that its equipment was used by China's Shenyang Water Conservancy Bureau in responding to flooding in Liaoning Province in mid-August.
"Weida had earlier provided the Shenyang Water Conservancy Bureau with its emergency communications systems and these were used to coordinate the recent efforts to battle the flood," said Chris Lennon, Weida's chief operating officer. "Through the transmission of live video images and on-the-spot reports from the areas threatened by the flood, officials at the bureau's headquarters were able to evaluate the flooding conditions and direct rescue, relief and damage control efforts," Lennon explained. "We expect that this real-life demonstration of the value of Weida's satellite-based communications system will increase interest in our products in China," he noted.
