LINKOPING, Sweden, Aug. 30, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Saab has received an order from FMV to develop support systems for the JAS 39 Gripen. The order is worth MSEK 150 and is a supplement to the existing contract for Gripen support systems.
"This supplementary procurement is a natural part of the support system development currently under way in connection with delivery and military introduction of the C and D versions of the JAS 39 Gripen. The support system helps ensure high operational availability of the Gripen system, and we're pleased to be a part of this process," said Torsten Ohman, Director After Sales at Saab Aerosystems.
The order encompasses Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) for support and maintenance of the Gripen system. LRUs are systems and equipment onboard the aircraft that can be replaced quickly and simply when required.
The order is for additional procurement of systems and equipment, as well as new procurement of LRUs for the latest versions of the Gripen, the C and D versions. The LRUs will be used operationally in Gripen fighters in Sweden, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
The contract involves Saab Aerosystems and Saab Avitronics.
Saab is one of the world's leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defense, aviation and space. The Group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration.
