ADVA Optical Networking's Storage Solution Available Through EMC Select Program

EMC Select now includes ADVA's FSP 2000 CWDM/DWDM hybrid solution to provide geographic extension of storage channels and Ethernet over private dark fiber

MAHWAH, N.J. and MARTINSRIED/MUNICH, Germany, Oct. 31, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- ADVA Optical Networking today announced that its Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 2000 is now available through the EMC Select Program. EMC Corporation's EMC(R) Select Program provides best-in-class products that complete an enterprise's storage infrastructure and information lifecycle management (ILM) solutions.

EMC will offer ADVA's FSP 2000 as an enterprise-class product that extends ESCON, Fibre Channel, FICON or Gigabit Ethernet at native speeds up to hundreds of kilometers over fiber. The FSP 2000 is specifically designed to enhance service levels, simplify networks and reduce total cost of ownership for enterprises looking to implement EMC business continuity and disaster recovery solutions that can securely span metro and regional areas via Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology.

EMC customers that deploy the ADVA FSP 2000 can build a multi-data center infrastructure today, while preserving flexibility for future growth. The FSP 2000 offers maximum flexibility to enterprises through its support of eight-channel Coarse WDM (CWDM), 64-channel Dense WDM (DWDM) and hybrid CWDM/DWDM systems. Enabling up to 640 applications to be transported over one single fiber pair, the FSP 2000 can transport any protocol at speeds ranging between 8Mbit/s and 10Gbit/s.

"The addition of ADVA's flexible FSP-based solution in the EMC Select Program will help EMC customers implement an end-to-end solution that improves business continuity and disaster recovery and helps them better manage distributed storage resources between geographically dispersed locations," said Tom Joyce, vice president, storage platforms marketing at EMC.

The FSP 2000 has achieved the rigorous EMC E-Lab Tested(TM)
qualification with EMC Symmetrix(R) Remote Data Facility (SRDF(R)) and
EMC MirrorView(TM) software families, as well as EMC CLARiiON(R) Disk
Library (CDL), EMC SAN Copy(TM) and EMC Open Replicator for
Symmetrix(TM) offerings. By achieving interoperability with the
broad array of EMC products, ADVA offers a complete solution for
enterprises both large and small needing to deploy storage solutions
 over long distances.

"In North America and beyond, participation in the EMC Select program allows ADVA to expand the reach of its data center and SAN products," stated Brian P. McCann, ADVA's chief marketing and strategy officer. "The robust combination of EMC and ADVA products delivers solutions that increase flexibility, lowers cost and positions enterprises of all sizes to cost-effectively manage their storage needs into the future."

ADVA's FSP 2000 was launched in May 2001, with more than 3,000 systems already sold. The FSP 2000's robust character and ability to transport all protocols make the product an ideal solution particularly for large-scale, high-bandwidth networks.
