Buffalo Reaches Another Milestone in Wireless Connectivity with Next Generation MIMO Solutions

Airgo's True MIMO Gen3 Chipset Delivers Unprecedented Wireless Speed, Range and Security and Allows Multimedia Devices to Share a Wireless Network

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- CES Booth No. RV2 -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless and wired networking, storage and memory solutions announced today it is meeting the consumer demand for high performance wireless solutions with the introduction of its AirStation(tm) MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G240) and AirStation(tm) MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G240).

The products are designed to extend wireless range and increase throughput speeds of up to five times faster than conventional wireless LAN technologies. The products support Airgo TrueMIMO(tm) (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) Gen3 technology, which allows for data transfer rates of up to 240Mbps(a). With lightning fast wireless transfer speeds, Buffalo's latest MIMO solutions allow users to seamlessly access and share rich media content such as music, photos, videos, games, etc. over their wireless network.

"There has been a significant increase in wireless multimedia devices in the consumer market along with the demand for solutions that can handle the vast amounts of digital content used on a multimedia network," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. "Buffalo has always delivered wireless solutions that exceed market expectations -- solutions that combine a full feature-set with ease-of-use; performance with interoperability and reliability with affordability. With our new MIMO products, we continue to provide the market with best-of-breed wireless solutions, which revolutionize wireless networking and home entertainment."

"For almost ten years, Airgo has been putting forth next-generation wireless technology that continues to beat out the old standards, and our TrueMIMO Gen3 chipset is another milestone in setting the standard for the fastest wireless technology available to consumers today," stated Greg Raleigh, President and CEO of Airgo Networks. "We are excited that a leading and innovative wireless networking manufacturer such as Buffalo has chosen to work with us so together we can transform the way technology and entertainment are used in the home."

MIMO algorithms utilize multiple antennas to transmit and receive multiple wireless signals simultaneously, resulting in faster wireless performance, extended range and more reliability than with other wireless networking solutions. With Airgo's third generation True MIMO, users experience actual TCP/IP wireless throughput speeds, which surpass the performance of wired Ethernet.

Buffalo's new MIMO solutions feature Buffalo's patent-pending AOSS(tm) (One-Touch Secure System) technology, which is currently the only one-touch wireless setup system available on the market today. AOSS allows users to install and configure Buffalo's wireless devices along with wireless security with the push of a button and click of a mouse. The products also include advanced security features such as WPA-PSK with AES support, which gives the products the ability to support WPA2 -- the latest and most powerful security standard for wireless networks. Additional security features include 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, and SPI Firewall.

The AirStation(tm) MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router offers optimized LAN/WAN routing with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and a built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch. Products featuring Airgo True MIMO Gen3 are fully 802.11a/b/g compatible and can be used with any other 802.11-enabled wireless device.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G240) and the AirStation MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G240) will be available in February at estimated street prices of $149 and $99 respectively through retailers, online resellers and Buffalo's web site.
