AAAS and Digital Pulp Re-Launch Science Family of Sites

NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), publisher of Science Magazine, just launched its redesigned site http://www.sciencemag.org. The site was planned, designed and developed by Digital Pulp, a New York-based interactive agency. Re-designing and re-launching the entire Science site was a huge undertaking, lasting nearly a year, encompassing more than 2 million pages, bringing together content stored in a variety of disparate data sources, all contained within more than 100 unique templates.

Key goals for this next-generation Science site included presenting a more seamless brand experience that closely links AAAS and Science; unifying, consolidating and clarifying the various properties that made up the former "Science Online" site architecture; and delivering a consistent and streamlined user experience. The site's underlying template structure and code follow the strictest guidelines of the W3C and Level III accessibility requirements.

The planning and strategic aspect of this project included over 200 wire frames and process flows. Digital Pulp also customized a leading Open Source CMS (eZ publish) for the ScienceCareers section of the site, giving the management team the ability to more efficiently publish and leverage its content.

"Digital Pulp was a great partner on this project. We were impressed by their professional approach and creative problem-solving skills. Their ability to work effectively with our internal team and external vendors was an important factor in the successful implementation of the new site," stated Monica Bradford, Executive Editor, Science.

Ron Fierman, President of Digital Pulp, added, "It was an honor to be selected for such a unique and challenging project. To be given a chance to plan, design and build a site for one of the most respected scientific journals in the world doesn't come along very often. The fantastic collaboration with the various Science teams has produced a site that Digital Pulp considers one of its finest."
