ATLANTA, Feb. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for January 2006(1),(2). System traffic for January 2006 decreased 4.5 percent from January 2005 with a capacity decrease of 6.8 percent. Delta's system load factor was 73.4 percent in January 2006, up 1.7 points from the same period last year and a record for the month of January.
Domestic traffic in January 2006 decreased 7.3 percent year over year, and capacity decreased 10.8 percent. Domestic load factor in January 2006 was 73.3 percent, up 2.7 points from the same period a year ago. International traffic in January 2006 increased 4.9 percent year over year on a 7.6 percent increase in capacity. International load factor was 73.6 percent, down 1.9 points from January 2005.
During January 2006, Delta operated its schedule at a 98.5 percent completion rate compared to 94.5 percent in January 2005. Delta boarded 8.2 million passengers during the month of January 2006, a decrease of 10.4 percent from January 2005. Detailed traffic and capacity are attached.
