LAKESIDE, Mont., Feb. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Earth Search Sciences, Inc., (OTCBB:ESSE) announced that it has received a purchase order from El Capitan Precious Metals, Inc. (OTCBB:ECPN) of Scottsdale, AZ to fly an aerial hyperspectral survey over numerous mineral claims belonging to El Capitan.
The contract calls for ESSE to locate anomalies indicative of pathfinder minerals that will assist to define the geographical extent of ore discoveries previously established by drilling programs on the property. Hyperspectral surveying allows large areas of ground to be examined very quickly and accurately. The ground truthing and airborne surveys will be coordinated by Dr. Joe Zamudio of ESSE and Dr. Clyde Smith of El Capitan.
ESSE's revolutionary hyperspectral imaging can measure a fine degree of spectral reflectance of solar energy from across the spectrum and allow the user to identify specific minerals and substances on the surface of the Earth by their diagnostic reflectance patterns. It has been successfully used by one of the world's largest mining companies, Noranda Minerals, as an exploration tool.
The ESSI website features full details on the use of hyperspectral technology for mineral and hydrocarbon exploration (http://www.earthsearch.com ) and Noranda's success with it (http://earthsearch.com/pdf/peshko.pdf).
