SHREVEPORT, La., March 2, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- StockPickReport.Com (IARD #119079), rates Applied Materials (Nasdaq:AMAT), Genta Incorporated (Nasdaq:GNTA), Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), and Ciena (Nasdaq:CIEN).
We will rarely look at a basket of stocks and find them all to be opportunities for profits as short-sells. Yet, all four of the stocks in this commentary are poised for such a move. If we were holders of these stocks we would either raise our stop/losses or open short positions for short-term profits.
In another commentary we said today, "Earlier this week, we said we would not put "50 cents" into a dow-component stock. Our belief is actually more broad-based than that, though. NYSE stocks -- as a whole -- are extremely overbought."
If a trader were looking for a trade that could beat the trend of these four stocks (AMAT, GNTA, HAL, and CIEN), they could look at the Gold (AMEX:GLD).
GLD's move higher yesterday is one reason we like the stock. GLD can move with equities as a "stock" and against them as a "commodity". So, on days when inflation-sensitive stocks (like the ones on this list) do poorly, GLD should rise. And, when the market, as a whole, rises, GLD can move in tandem.
GLD is under valued and we think offers a high degree of long-term upside.
