AUSTIN, Texas, March 20, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced the TeraStation Pro, the business-to-business version of its award-winning TeraStation NAS devices, now offers Active Directory member support, allowing the product to be deployed in larger companies that utilize Active Directory Domain environments. Current TeraStation Pro users can download the Active Directory member support firmware from Buffalo's web site at: http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads-product.php?productid=127

The TeraStation Pro is designed for businesses that want a cost-effective, high-performance, NAS solution that delivers superior reliability and usability. The product is available in capacities of 0.6TB (TS-0.6TGL/R5), 1TB (TS-1.0TGL/R5) and 1.6TB (TS-1.6TGL/R5).

"All IT administrators seek a NAS solution that can fit within their budget and meet their needs, regardless of company size," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. The new TeraStation Pro is Windows and Macintosh compatible and includes four hard drives and four operational modes: Standard Mode, Spanning Mode, Mirroring Mode and Raid 5 Mode. The TeraStation Pro features an advanced RAID system, which continually checks hard drive performance. If a problem is detected with one of the drives, data integrity will not be compromised. This prevents system failure and ensures dependable performance.

The TeraStation Pro incorporates highly reliable serial ATA hard drives for better transfer rates, smaller cables and the ability to quick-swap drives. A lockable door on the front panel allows users to easily access and replace the product's hard drives. It also includes an LCD monitor, which indicates in what mode the TeraStation is operating, disk usage, network information, or if there are any problems with the device.

The product features two USB 2.0 ports, which allows users to simultaneously connect two external USB hard drives. It features a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet port and Jumbo Frame capability for higher transfer speeds than standard Gigabit networks. The product's Journaling File System protects data in the event connection is lost during data transfer. The TeraStation Pro also features UPS compatibility so the device can be safely powered down automatically or manually and includes Memeo(tm) AutoBackup(tm) software to protect against data loss.

Backed by a limited one-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the TeraStation Pro is immediately available at estimated street prices of $799 for 0.6TB (TS-0.6TGL/R5), $999 for 1TB (TS-1.0TGL/R5) and $1,799 for 1.6TB (TS-1.6TGL/R5).
