Let me tell you what I read today. I read that more newsletter writers are bullish now than months ago. Translated, that means, "probably time to sell." Stocks like Nortel (NYSE:NT) might be okay, though.
When you see folks start to jump on the "bull" bandwagon, the first thing you should do is look for your way off. The old axiom of "buy the rumor, sell the news" applies nicely. The rumor was that the market would run up. The news is that it did.
Now's your chance to sell into that news.
Yet, the seduction to trade becomes much stronger for many traders near market "tops." The bullish talk and Wallstreet cheerleading has an effect on so many people. It's no wonder so many folks end up holding stocks they bought in the frenzy of a market run.
If you feel the seduction to trade -- even with the market due for a pull back -- make sure you have your stop/losses in place to guard against a downdraft.
